Would you like to learn how to make Greek inspired Christmas recipes with fragrant wild herbs, dried fruit and seasonal vegetables? How to create festive foods that will please a crowd? How about delicious desserts that will make your house smell divine? This December, the celebrated Greek chef Lida Papamatthaiaki is joining Marianna from Oliveology for a delicious Christmas feast!

Lida Papamatthaiaki is a trained chef and anthropologist, focussing on food and the senses. She has worked in professional kitchens in Greece and London, consulted artisan food companies, participated in food conferences and culinary seminars. She has also been writing and developing recipes for Oliveology for the last five years.

Using winter vegetables and star ingredients from small Greek artisan producers, Lida has put together a delicious Christmas menu for you to prepare and taste. Discover unique Greek ingredients and learn how to create delicious festive dishes during a hands-on culinary experience.

The workshops includes learning basic cooking skills, tasting ingredients and participating in every step, from prepping ingredients to cooking and plating. And of course, the recipes, so that you can practice what they’ve learned at home.

At the end of the workshop we all sit around the table and share the food we’ve made!

So, join us for a celebration of Greek Christmas cooking and warm Greek hospitality – for it wouldn’t be a Greek feast without a lovely lunch with lots of food and drinks on offer, would it?

Oliveology’s Christmas Cooking Workshop

Workshop with Lida Papamatthaiaki

Lida Papamatthaiaki is a trained chef and anthropologist, focussing on food and the senses. Her experience working with food is diverse. Lida has worked in professional kitchens in Greece and London, consulted artisan food companies, participated in food conferences and culinary seminars. She has also been writing and developing recipes for Oliveology for the last five years. In addition she has been volunteering in social kitchens for refugees in Athens.

Lida is passionate about tangible and intangible heritage. She participated in an oral history research project documenting food practices in Northern Greece and worked for museums in Greece, developing food related creative learning programs.

In her workshops she brings in her memories from her place of origin, Crete. Her workshops are inspired by the intersection of food heritage, culture and history.

Menu: Festive, Seasonal, using Oliveology products and mostly organic produce

Price: £65 per person (including food, drinks, recipes and a goodie bag)

Dietary requirements:

Our menus are seasonal and change often. If you have specific dietary requirements please contact us before booking to ensure our menu can accommodate your needs.

All dietary requirements need to be confirmed at least two weeks prior to the workshop. As our menus are finalised after that, we will do our best but cannot guarantee that we can accommodate any dietary requirements less than two weeks prior to the workshop.

Our workshops are hosted at Borough Market cookhouse. As this is a shared kitchen space we cannot guarantee an allergy-free environment.

Cancellation policy:

In case you have to cancel or change your booking, we would need a minimum of four weeks’ notice. In that case we will refund you for the full amount or transfer your booking to another date.

If you have to cancel or change your booking less than four weeks in advance then we will unfortunately not be able to refund or change your booking. You can of course offer your space to a friend, ensuring you have informed us of any dietary requirements as soon as possible, so as to make sure we can accommodate them.

If we have to cancel a workshop, then we will offer you a full refund or if you prefer we will transfer your amount to one of our other workshops.
