Afianes Icarus Red

This complex, rich, warm and tannic 2017 Icarus Red is made from 100% organic Fokiano grapes. The winery still follows the traditional winemaking techniques of the island, fermenting wine in clay jars that are buried underground. Only 1860 bottles were produced in 2017 and the bottles are numbered. It has a ruby red colour, a complex nose of ripe red fruits and aromas from French oak followed by a rich and warm taste with soft tannins and flavours of wild cherry, black mulberry and black pepper. With a soft and long-lasting aftertaste, it pairs perfectly with yellow cheeses; wild boar, lamb or beef; and spicy tomato-based dishes.
