Oliveology is working in partnership with ‘Sycofantes’ (sykophántēs) Greek figs produced by Dimitris Konstantakopoulos. This is the origin of the English term sycophant; literally ‘one who reveals figs. (sukon/sykos/συκος fig, and phainein/fanēs/φανης to show)
In Ancient Athens, figs were amongst the Athenians favourite fruits. They were eaten fresh or dried under the sun. They were so valuable that their export was strictly prohibited.
