End-of-year Reflections & Reset

“Patience is bitter, but its fruit is sweet “ Aristotle

The beginning of the new year is a great time to reset our mindset, re-evaluate and prioritise what matters most, and set new intentions for the year to come. Our New Year’s resolutions are often powered by short-term bursts of enthusiasm that slowly fade. This year, consider taking steps toward investing in motivation that can stand the test of time by building a stronger connection to your goals. Aim at keep learning, adapting, and improving yourself. Remember that every opportunity is a chance to expand and grow. Besides, it’s never too late to make and manifest a positive change.

What are our New Year’s Goals?

This year, we invest in our physical and mental health and focus on improving your friendships and relationships, on being a more compassionate companion, a more patient parent, a kinder colleague, a more empathetic human being. We set new standards for our health that can translate into meaningful changes in our daily (food) habits. Start with small lifestyle changes, like going to bed earlier and sleeping more, move your body, prepare more of your food, find a calmer headspace. Such small things make a difference, as take small actions that lead to change. Here are a few ideas:

Get re-inspired in the kitchen, aspiring towards a whole, nutrient-dense and unprocessed diet- as much as possible. Start from our grove blog, where you can find culinary inspiration, with recipes that use our unrefined ingredients. These are hearty recipes that will make you feel nourished and comforted.

Boost your immune system by drinking olive leaf tea, mountain tea, and adding raw honey and bee pollen to your daily diet.

Give your gut health some love and care, savouring unpasteurised naturally cured olives (yes olives are a fermented food!), and high polyphenolic organic olive oils daily (at least a couple of tablespoons).

Eat seasonally, cook from scratch and use single ingredients as much as possible; if you choose pre-packed foods, make sure that they have less than 5 ingredients which you can find in your kitchen.

Aim at eating 30 plants per week (includes nuts and seeds, which you can add them on your breakfasts, smoothies and salads).

Eat balanced and nutrient-dense meals that make you feel sated, with enough protein, fibre and healthy fats. Limit sugars, ultra-processed foods and alcohol intake.

Eat when you are hungry, don’t let your body starve; eat slowly and mindfully; stay hydrated.

Select foods that are ethically made, supporting small farmers and artisan producers who care for the environment.

As we reach the end of the year and reflect on these changes ahead, it’s important to acknowledge how much we’ve grown over the last year. Life-journeys often come with many challenges and it’s important to pause and reflect on the ways we’ve managed to overcome these and evolve; on what we’ve learned.

It is our hope that Oliveology will be part of your own personal journeys of becoming.

Wishing you all, a prosperous New Year.
