Dinner Experience with Nafsika Papacharalampous
Olive oil is a staple and a sacred food for Greeks. It travels from rural to urban Greece and can be found in every Greek household, from small kitchens to luxury upscale restaurants. Olive oil creates the feasting in the fasting, turning a few simple ingredients in memorable dishes. Would you like to experience the mythology, history and culture of the Greek olive oil?
Oliveology and Nafsika Papacharalampous are inviting you to a very unique evening. Inspired by Nafsika’s fieldwork in the delis and restaurant kitchens of Athens, this dinner will play around the myth and journeys of the Greek olive oil. It brings together stories about the Greek olive oil and traditional dishes cooked only with extra virgin olive oil. Over several courses, you will get to savour the simplicity of flavours and the sophistication of rural and urban Greek cuisine and enjoy olive oil in various ways. Oh and did we say there will be moussakas? Yes, there will be!
What to expect:
You will be welcomed with a special welcome cocktail and a tasting of different olives. Nafsika will then give a short talk on the history & culture of the Greek olive oil, guiding you through the various courses that she has cooked for you. You will enjoy an olive oil tasting and a 5-course dinner, prepared with family recipes and recipes collected from rural and urban Greece. Nafsika will join you again over dessert and you will get a chance to talk more about Greek food.
